English Cucumber

Why did the cucumber cross the street? Because it was green! If you thought that joke was dorky, wait for this. The inner plant geek in us can’t wait to tell you about this plant! This variety only produces female flowers and does not require pollination, cool right? The fancy word for it is “parthenocarpic”. Warning: Parthenocarpic varities should not be planted with other “non-parthenocarpic” cucumber varieties or you will produce some wonky looking gourd like cucs! We recommend growing vertically on a trellis. Pick cucumbers when 9-11″ long. The larger they get, the more bitter-tasting and seedy they will become. Cut from the vine to remove. Promote continuous production with regular pickings and fertlizing.
